My second preffered learning style is Kinesthetic. Basically i like doing hands -on things as well. i like having the chance to mess around with things and try it. Instes of watching a diagram of volleyball i would rather stand in the spot and begin playing. Also according to the websites flash cards are supposed to help me learn which is true. i can learn 20 vocabulary words 15 minutes before a test and still remember them a week later. I have also learned that spelling out words in my head or aloud helps trigger thoughts about the subject. thus tying aural and kinesthetic together. For instance, so far today i have been working with a group of friends reviewing for the history cst. I realized that as we went through various topics, if i spelled the word out i was able to remember at least some specific instance in which i used the word, or saw something. For example Cubism, when my friend said it i had no idea, i asked him to spell it , he gave me a hint, art form, and i thought of Picasso with his guitar. Somehow i can magically pull some information out of nowhere. Even though i couldn’t remember who the allies and central powers were… hahah research continues…
Learnin’ styles
May 6, 2009Learnin’ Styles
April 28, 2009One of my preferred learning styles is Aural. People who have this preferred learning style generally learn better when there are songs or rythms that go with the study material. Also with rhyme or other methods that have to do with sound. I found this to be true when it pertains to me , for instance the other day i was having trouble with electrochemistry, trying to remember what oxidation was and whether it was the anode or the cathode. As i read through the chapter, it provided me with a unique remembering phrase. Leo the lion says ger. Vowel with Vowel, consanant with consanant. Hence, Losing Electrons is Oxidation, while Gaining Electrons is Reduction. Oxidation is the Anode, while Reduction is the Cathode. These two simple phrases made the basics extremely easy for me to remember. Sadly it’s the only thing that i can remember clearly. Thus so far i have learned that i learn better when i have catch phrases that i can remember. This however is just the beginning of my research…
